Databases

BCI Gebouw integrates all official calculation methodologies and databases, ensuring compliance with CB’23, Het Nieuwe Normaal, and BREEAM-NL credits. The following databases are incorporated into BCI Gebouw:

  • National Environmental Database (NMD) – Dutch
  • EPIC/Nibe Database – European
  • Alba Concepts Disassembly Database – European

BCI Gebouw connects all databases, allowing them to seamlessly communicate with each other during data input for a real estate asset. This eliminates duplicate data entry, making the process fast and efficient.

A1 and A2 Datasets

The Dutch National Environmental Database (NMD) currently provides two datasets, based on different methodologies and environmental impact categories:

  • A1 Dataset – Based on 11 environmental impact categories. This dataset is currently the standard for mandatory MPG score calculations.
  • A2 Dataset – Based on 19 environmental impact categories. As of January 1 (2025), this dataset is mandatory for MIA/Vamil subsidy applications and will become the future standard for MPG calculations.

Both datasets are available in BCI Gebouw. However, users must choose between A1 or A2 when performing a calculation. It is possible to copy a calculation to a new scenario and convert it to the other dataset. In some cases, products may not have a direct equivalent, requiring alternative selections.

Overriding Default (Forfaitaire) Scenarios

BCI Gebouw utilizes the Nibe database (raw material flows) and the Alba Concepts Disassembly Database.

For the disassembly index, future scenario and actual lifespan, BCI Gebouw applies predefined (forfaitaire) values. These values are based on the most common scenarios and provide a solid performance estimate. However, these values are not fixed.

In the transition from a linear to a circular economy, new products, connection types, and take-back agreements are emerging. As a result, the default values for disassembly and future scenarios may no longer be fully applicable.

BCI Gebouw allows users to adjust these values at the product level, ensuring accurate representation of circular performance.

Why Flexibility Matters

This flexibility is essential for driving the transition to a circular economy. It also encourages users to push the boundaries of circular innovation. Rigidly adhering to forfaitaire values would make BCI Gebouw unsuitable for measuring disassembly.
